Christian Dior UK’s Flagship Store 160, 161-162 New Bond Street

Following a number of successful schemes developed for the LVMH group, Bernard Anault requested that Blair Associates Architecture Ltd developed a viability study to see whether the Grade II listed 161-162 New Bond Street could function by joining into the neighbouring property 160 New Bond Street owned by Christian Dior. Despite level differences between the two properties and the requirements to retain not only the formation of existing listed rooms and an original farmhouse building in the centre of the site, Blair Associates Architecture Ltd devised a 3D scheme which included not only new levels of basement for Christian Dior pumps, a series of spaces for the maison style retail synonymous with Christian Dior at ground, first and second floors. The upper storeys, much of which is newly constructed, is designed as offices and four penthouse apartments working with Peter Marino and Christian Dior Architecture. The Bond Street Maison is one of the biggest boutiques on Bond Street covering four floors and featuring further departments for baby and children’s wear, menswear, shoe gallery and no less than three VIP shopping saloons. Each department is connected via light French marble staircase decorated by unusual animated murals by visual artist Oyoram. The scheme is one of the most successful schemes in Bond Street and within the company’s portfolio.
