Haliburton, Brown and Root (KBR) Headquarters

International Headquarters for one of the world’s largest engineering consultancy companies comprising 28,000m² located in the countryside heartland of Surrey. The project was won in competition against leading UK office practices.

The Headquarters campus design comprised three independent buildings linked at nodule points to encompass a full working team of a thousand engineers. All three buildings are designed and finished with high quality exposed concrete structure, sculptured and fluted to direct air movement through the building and to provide acoustic attenuation in the working environment. The façade system was constructed in precast reconstructed stone and glazed skin, allowing clear unencumbered views of the lush Victorian parkland setting from each workstation.

The central building features a large atrium roof with slender tensile cable structure controlling the deflection of the butt jointed double glazed roof. The project was featured in the Architects Journal, CIBSE Journal and credited by the British Council of Offices. The project won numerous awards for outstanding innovation in its use of materials and energy conservation.
